During the United States-Israeli war on Iran, Tehran has said the Strait of Hormuz is open to all except the US and its allies. One-fifth of the world’s oil shipments transit through the strait. On March 2,
US President argued that the action was necessary to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons, which he said would pose a major threat to the Middle East and beyond.
Trump said he hoped allies would send warships to secure the vital Strait of Hormuz, while Iran urged people to evacuate three ports in the UAE as its war with the U.S. and Israel showed no signs of ending.
8:30 a.m. ET: Gulf states reported new missile and drone attacks on Sunday after Iran threatened to widen its campaign and called for the evacuation of three major ports in the United Arab Emirates. Since the war started, Iranian strikes have killed at least a dozen civilians in Gulf states, most of them migrant workers.
The war between Iran and the United States is rapidly intensifying to include other countries, including Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates.
