More than 94 million people across the East Coast are under severe weather alerts as potent storms barreled across the eastern U.S.

The National Weather Service will hold an emergency preparedness forum Thursday in Gary as part of its seminar and webinar series for the public, about a week after a deadly storm hit the area and nearly a year after a tornado hit Gary.

According to the National Weather Service, central Pennsylvania counties are no longer under a tornado watch, but a different kind of severe weather is on the way. On Monday, forecasters issued alerts warning much of central Pennsylvania about the potential for high winds and tornadoes until 7 p.

Snowfall totals of six to 12 inches are possible over a 36‑hour stretch, according to the National Weather Service.
